ABOUT / PVR–GN
Software in service of the record shelf.
GrooveNet comes from the simple observation that a physical collection holds more knowledge than its spine labels can show at a glance.
WHY IT EXISTS
A collection is more than an inventory.
Records carry a personal history: the stores, people, scenes, labels, and nights that brought them together. But a collection also becomes hard to navigate as it grows. GrooveNet makes its musical information searchable and useful without pretending that a database is the collection itself.
PHYSICAL, STILL
The software is not the listening experience.
Audio analysis, metadata, and recommendations can make preparation and discovery sharper. They cannot replace choosing a record, cueing it, or responding to a room. GrooveNet is designed as a technical companion to those practices, not an abstraction away from them.
PUBLIC VINYL RADIO
A project within a larger practice.
Public Vinyl Radio maintains GrooveNet as an open-source project for people who collect, listen, organize, and DJ. The project has its own focus and codebase; its origin is the broader Public Vinyl Radio ecosystem.
