Getting started
Development needs Docker with Compose v2, mise, just, and a Discogs account with a collection. Clone the main repository, install toolchains, configure the app environment, start the Compose stack, then run migrations.

System requirements
Discogs credentials and PostgreSQL are foundational. Apple Music, YouTube, OpenAI embeddings and AI metadata, and remote backup are optional integrations configured through environment variables.

Architecture
The main application is Next.js and PostgreSQL with pgvector and Redis. Essentia analysis, genetic playlist generation, and downloads run as Python services. Typed API, CLI, and MCP packages sit alongside the application.

CLI and MCP
The groovenet CLI supports searching, album and playlist management, playback, friend collections, and JSON output for scripting. The MCP server exposes collection operations to Claude Code.
